Cross Domain Vehicle

Project type

CDV

Date

2024

Location

Shanghai, Shenzhen

Have you ever wondered why Atlantic Puffins can glide underwater while other birds can't? The requirement to morph wings has haunted the design of cross-domain vehicles, reducing their payload space and efficiency. We believe that morphing is not required in cross domain flight.

With principles derived from these birds, we develop a supercritical foil that suits both submerged and airborne conditions.

We are applying it to a cross-domain vehicle, which is launched in air, completes its mission underwater, and returns. It is meaningful as it will prove a versatile and affordable way of collecting data for marine science and possibly aquaculture in the future.

We will develop and apply more innovative technologies like the Puffin foil as we move on. We are also considering water-soluble airfoils. Visit the GitHub page!:
